Friday 5/3/13

I ran 5.50 today.  It was an easy run and recovery from the speed workout that I did yesterday.  I waited to run to late in the day because I just did not want to run.  I felt very stiff for the whole run and it was basically just a death march.  Long run tomorrow.  This just does not feel like a stepback week.

Thursday 5/2/13

I did my first speed workout of the season.  4X800 on 400 rest.  I actually felt pretty good.  I did all in 3:18 or better.
I am aiming to get better at posting on a regular basis.  I will post something after I enter log my workout in each day.'
Here is the guy that you need to watch this summer.  Sage has been dominating the distance to 100k.

Monday 2/25/13

Ran for 40 minutes very easy.  Felt pretty good after the race yesterday and a long day at work.  I also did some core work and myrtl.  I don't usually run on Mondays but it is supposed to rain tomorrow and Seth has a band concert in the evening.  I will still get out if I can.   I would like to bump the mileage to about 37 or 38 this week as I build to 40+.  I have found what my problem is and it is weak hips and hip strength.  I have found that myrtl and this routine have helped me stay healthy.  As you get older it seems to me that it is just as important to have a strong core and take care of your legs.

Sunday 2/24/13-Little Miami 10 Miler

Ran the Little Miami 10 Miler today.  I ran in 1:15:17 which was good for 82 OA.  I was racing to gauge my fitness.  I decided to take it out comfortable and slowly build.  It was an out and back and with about 3.5 miles to go you cross Jacoby Rd.  I told myself that if I feel good I would try and bring it home hard.  I just didn't have it but I am happy with where I am at right now.   I want to run well on the first Sunday in April.  33 miles for a recovery week.  Now the work begins.

Tuesday 2/19/13

I just haven't had a chance to post lately.  I need to get better about that.  Work has been very busy the past couple of weeks and that plays a roll in my ability to post.  My training is going good in preparation of the ORRRC Half Marathon in April.  I have had back to back weeks of 35 miles with some good quality mixed in.  I did fry myself when I did hill repeats last Tuesday.  This week is a stepback week and I will race on Sunday.  It is a 10 mile bike trail race that is an out and back.

I am finishing my first week as I get ready for the ORRRC half marathon.  I really want to run under 1:35 for the half marathon.  Today I did a 1:20 workout on the trainer and did a Spinerval Base Builder workout.  It was a little over 20 miles.  I am trying to put a couple of days of cyclcing into my schedule and I have been getting on the trainer  for a longer workout each Saturday.  They are definitely quality workouts.  It allows me to get some quality in without having to take a day off.  Long run tomorrow.
